Went in Something Scrummy for the first time with my friends for a few eats before going somewhere in Braintree. I have toasts with scrambled eggs, streaky bacon, and sausage with English Breakfast tea as all tastes are good, and few people turn up for eat and drink and then left. Might come back again one day.

I recently stumbled upon this charming cafe, and it was an absolute delight! From the moment I walked in, the warm ambiance and soft jazz playing in the background made me feel right at home. The decor, with its eclectic mix of vintage books and cozy wooden furniture, gave the place a soulful character that’s hard to find. The menu was a refreshing surprise—creative yet approachable. I tried their lavender-infused latte, which was perfectly balanced, not too sweet, and had just the right floral hint. Paired with their homemade rosemary scone, it was a match made in heaven! The staff were incredibly attentive, offering genuine smiles and even recommending a few local spots to explore. What truly set this cafe apart was the little details: handwritten notes on the menu, a small shelf of board games for patrons, and the barista’s knack for remembering my name.

I would just like to say thank you very much for such a delicious lunch. I always like to pop in here for coffee with mum, to support local businesses but today I bought some friends with me for lunch. They had never been into Something Scrummy before but had nothing but good words to say about their lunch. The cafe was nice and calm and They were able to sit and relax with their new born baby without being disturbed. Very tasty sandwiches, great coffee and I took home a piece of your double chocolate brownie which was absolutely devine! Thank you so much and keep up the great work and tasty brownies! X

A lovely cafe slap bang in the centre of town. You can sit outside in the Museum courtyard overlooking the Town Hall with it's nice new garden, the market square and the shiny new health centre and hotel building. A really nice spot to stop for a snack. Top marks for your drinks and cake, my coffee was very nice and the Bakewell Blondie as well. Everyone else enjoyed their rockyroads and milkshakes. The guy taking our order accommodated my fussy Americano installations perfectly, it was a good drink. I like the modern clean interior and counter, all very professional. The old black and white museum exhibit photos are interesting, but a little bland. Perhaps ask them for some colourful old Crittle adverts, or Warner prints to brighten it up a little. No idea how you are going to cool the place on a hot day, an old building with non opening windows. It was getting stuffy on a rubbish August afternoon.

Popped into Something Scrummy today for lunch while catching up with a friend and was very impressed with both the food and customer service. I remember getting a quick coffee from their previous location years ago so was pleasantly surprised to find them in a more spacious spot in the middle of town. The food was lovely and good value for money, with my little boy enjoying something from the kids menu. All the staff were very friendly and super accommodating, bringing over a booster seat for our little one and helping us position the pram so we weren't too in the way. The place really filled up after we arrived which added to the atmosphere, making it a nice, vibrant place to enjoy a coffee and a catch up. We'll definitely be back!
